Many fashion brands nowadays are trying to tick the sustainability box when manufacturing their clothes. But what is their thought process behind it? What are they actually advocating for? It’s rare to find a sustainable fashion company that wears its message on their clothes, but Nature And Wildlife Sustainable Clothing™ do exactly that.
So, what actually makes fashion sustainable? Well, Nature And Wildlife Sustainable Clothing™ are a great example. They create organic, ethical and environmentally responsible clothing for their consumers, using GOTS- certified organic pesticide free cotton. In simple terms this means no toxic chemicals are involved, so the soil stays healthy and the water that wildlife relies on stays unpolluted. And it doesn't stop there. They also ship their products completely carbon neutral which cuts down the overall impact on the planet.
Carol, who founded the brand said she had always been an "outdoors soul", and that her love for nature and animals inspired her brand. The company strongly advocates for wildlife in every piece they create. For Carol she saw "a massive disconnect between the beauty of wildlife and the wastefulness of the fashion industry and was shocked to see how many species we were losing due to human intervention". When people think about unsustainable fashion, they often focus on landfill waste and unethical production methods. The impact on wildlife isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind—but this brand completely changed my perspective, highlighting a powerful and overlooked purpose.
Nature And Wildlife Sustainable Clothing™ "design for a deep connection to the wild, not just to tick a sustainability box"- and that's what really sets them apart. It feels genuine, like a brand with a real purpose, not just a passing trend. What I love most is their message. They want their garments to inspire the wearer to become a "custodian of nature, not just a consumer", which feels a lot more meaningful then simply buying something new.
They also give back, donating a portion of their profits to 'Peoples Trust for Endangered Species' and the WWF-UK. It’s clear that their impact goes beyond what they sell.
The fashion industry is a major contributor to environmental damage, leaving a trail of waste behind it. In fact this industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions. This is shocking, and for me the solution is simple. We should be buying pieces that won't go out of style, and that are made to last. Fast fashion is a huge issue with so many negative impacts on the planet, but change can start small. Carol believes that "students have the creative power to break fast fashion culture", and I truly believe in this too.
Making more sensible choices in fashion goes further than people think. Nature and Wildlife clothing share a similar mind set to me. They encourage consumers to "buy for the 10-year version of themselves", which really makes you think. Next time you’re about to buy a trending top, ask yourself: would I actually wear this in a decade?
Choosing timeless pieces and supporting slow, sustainable fashion makes a bigger difference than we realise. Fast fashion doesn't just create waste, it leads to masses of waste polluting water systems and destroying habitats. Each item this brand creates helps to highlight these issues, whilst encouraging people to be a part of the solution.

This top really captures the brands message. As Carol puts it, this piece is "more than fashion, it's about wearing a commitment to protect the species we share this planet with".

'The Rhino' is created to spark powerful conversations. These designs are made as "educational tools", and I love how this one highlights the beauty and extreme vulnerability of this species. Carol wants to move the narrative away from a 'plight' toward an 'active preservation'.

'The Bee' is representation of the planet's pollinators. Using organic pesticide-free cotton which "directly protects vital habitats of the insects that keep our ecosystem running". I like how minimal this sweatshirt is, it feels easy to wear whilst making a statement.

'The Gorilla' is probably the most striking. Representing a critically endangered species, this design is a powerful reminder of the "wonderful giants we share this planet with and represents the wild under pressure". The lines running through the gorilla symbolise the confinement and human intervention threatening gorillas. The brand says this design is "more than just a print, it's a tribute to a species that deserves our focus and protection".
The fashion industry is one of the most damaging contributors to the planet, but small changes will make a huge difference. Brands like this who have a real passion for sustainability are what we need right now. If something as simple as a sweatshirt can help protect wildlife and start meaningful conversations, then choosing what we wear suddenly feels a lot more important.

Great write up , I love this company and what it stands for , Carol has done an amazing job
